Inspired by a rich musical background of jazz, pop songwriters, and a deep love of R&B and soul, Jaana Narsipur is a diverse vocalist who moves effortlessly from classic standards to soul to modern pop. Critics are saying about Jaana: “Stellar vocals … there is a delightful joy to her delivery” and “[Her voice shows] expressive improvisation and nuanced vocal phrasing.” Jaana’s 2026 album, The Re-Collection, was #1 for four consecutive weeks on the RMR Top 50 Jazz Albums Chart, spending a total of twelve weeks in the Top 5. The Re-Collection is a jazz reimagining of 80s pop classics from Kate Bush, Eurythmics, Joe Jackson, and other iconic artists. The Re-Collection has received glowing reviews, with All About Jazz calling it “an album that feels deeply personal with intricate arrangements that expand into expressive jazz frameworks.”
Born in India and raised in the United States, Jaana studied classical voice as a teenager, then obtained her Bachelors in Voice and Music History at the prestigious Northwestern University School of Music. During her under- graduate years, Jaana fell in love with jazz and began sitting in on jam sessions in Chicago, learning the standards, and exploring the vibrant Chicago jazz scene. In 2013, Jaana obtained her Masters in Jazz Performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Jaana has studied with Jackie Allen, NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan, and NYC avant garde vocalist J.D. Walter.
Jaana is also an accomplished music educator, with a Music Education degree from DePaul University. She has worked with young students and adult aspiring musicians for 15 years, teaching vocal and choral music, music theory and history, and group piano. Currently, Jaana teaches at a music conservatory in New York, teaches voice privately and performs throughout the metro NYC area!
